Handles
(Select the image for a larger view)
We offer hand
trucks with 24 unique handle styles. The following are most common: |
 |
The Horizontal Loop Handle aka "Flow
Back Handle" is a versatile "all-purpose" handle that can easily be used
with either one or two hands. When equipped with a curved frame, it is
the best hand truck style for handling rolls, and other long tubular items.
The Horizontal Loop is the lightest type of hand truck handle. |
 |
The Vertical Loop (aka
"P-Loop Handle" or "Mover's Dolly") is popular for it's comfortable one hand
use that allows the user to grasp the handle at different heights. It
is very popular for beverage delivery, and household goods moving crews.
The Vertical Loop is also the best truck for manual stair climbing. |
 |
The Traditional Dual Grip
handle may be the safest, and most stable hand truck because it encourages
proper ergonomics. It is the most comfortable for two hand use, and is
the best choice for heavy loads. It is also very well suited for
larger frame extensions that increase carry capacity. |
 |
The Rocky Mountain Pistol
Grip is a light-weight, maneuverable, and very productive one handed truck.
It's maneuverability is very useful in tight stockrooms, and narrow isles.
It cannot be used two handed, and is therefore not a good choice for
non-professionals or handling heavier loads. |

Frames
(Select the

We offer hand
trucks with 6 unique frames styles. The following are most common: |
 |
Straight aluminum hand
truck frames are perfect for handling ordinary boxes and most flat sided
objects, but should not be used when handling cylindrical items. Many
new manufacturers/ importers now offer this type of frame. Though
these frames all look similar in pictures, there are obvious quality
differences upon closer examination. Many are not suitable for daily
operations. |
 |
Curved frames work well
handling cartons that are 12" are larger, and they also allow a user to
carry cylindrical items such as barrels, kegs, buckets, pails, rolls, &
poles. Many manufacturers/importers do not offer curved frames.
The B&P Liberator is the only curved frame with the exceptional strength of
100% extruded aluminum. |
|
Nose Plates
(Select the

We offer hand
trucks with 19 nose plate styles. The following are most common: |
 |
The basic nose plate is usually 14"
wide x 7.5" deep. Economy plates are made with aluminum castings,
while better quality trucks are available with extruded aluminum as an
option. Extrusions can be cut-out to reduce weight, and help water
drain off in wet weather. |
 |
Curved frame hand trucks
require the use of recessed nose plates to allow cylindrical objects to rest
properly in the frame. An un-cut extrusion provides a more secure
platform for pails, poles, and other small cylindrical objects. |
 |
Wide nose plate offer
added strength & stability for larger items. Most wide nose plates
also act as wheel guards, preventing your cargo from interfering with the
wheels. Our favorite multi-purpose nose plate is the popular 18" wide
recessed extrusion. It is cut-out, beveled, cornered, recessed,
and can be used in any frame. |

Wheels
(Select the

We offer hand
trucks in 8 unique wheel sets. The following are most common: |
 |
The
"Ball-Tech" or "Balloon Cushion" wheel uses a non-marking synthetic rubber chemically bonded to
light-weight ultra poly hub. It combines the strength and durability
of a solid rubber tire with a soft ride, multi-terrain capabilities, and a
lower rolling resistance than any other wheel. The best general
purpose tire on the market. |
 |
Pneumatic
wheels are best for rough surfaces, and
fragile loads. The tire is inflated with air to provide a soft, cushioned
ride. They are relatively light, but have greater rolling resistance,
and may go flat on the job. Good quality pneumatic wheels use 4-ply construction,
and inner tubes. |
 |
Mold-on
rubber wheels are generally smaller, and lighter than pneumatic, and
ball-tech rubber wheels. They offer durability, stability, low rolling
resistance, and are excellent for use on smooth, or semi-smooth surfaces.
Shown here is our #8 tire, the "Ultra-Lite" aluminum hub, mold-on rubber
tire from Wesco Mfg. |
|
Other Hand Truck Wheels |
Solid rubber
tires are large, very heavy, and not suitable for use on light
weight aluminum hand trucks. Semi-pneumatic wheels are economical,
hollow rubber tires. They are heavy, have high rolling
resistance, and have lower capacities. Solid foam tires are an
alternative to pneumatics, but they are costly, and have the more rolling
resistance than any other tire. |
