Privacy Policy
United Shippers Corporation of NY, inc. (USC), and USCargoTools.com cannot achieve our goals without the trust and confidence of our clients. As such, we make every effort to keep our privacy policy clear, simple to read, and readily available.
"We have not, do not, and will not sell, trade, or barter any personal information obtained through this website other than to comply with laws and regulations, or the reasonable requests of US law enforcement officials. USC is in the business of selling cargo related products and services, not information." Joe Deasy President
We receive information when you submit it via web forms, email, facsimile, etc. As with most ecommerce enabled web sites, we also receive demographic information through the use of "cookies", and "log files" in order to improve functionality.
A cookie is a small data file placed on the user’s computer that stores information about that user. Cookies are in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We set cookies to improve your overall experience. For example, with the cookie, users do not have to log in with a password more than once per session because our server will "remember" who the user is. Users can easily instruct their browser to reject the cookie, and still use our site. The only drawback would be the loss of some "user friendly" functionality.
Log files collect internet protocol addresses, browser types, date/time stamps, and other broad demographic information. We use this information to administer the website, analyze trends, and improve the value of our services. The log files are not personally identifiable, and we make no attempt to link them with the individuals that actually visit the website.
We utilize the information you provide to improve your shopping experience, and to execute the sale, or service you specifically request. We do not share any information with our vendors that is not specifically required to perform the services you requested. For example, our freight service providers require basic information to perform their respective logistical services. We may also need to share information with professional service firms (IE: certified public accountants, etc.) for tax, and compliance issues. We also reserve the right to use the information in our possession to pursue collection of outstanding debts, or to assist US law enforcement officials upon their reasonable request.
All sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) is transmitted directly to our bank (JP Morgan Chase) through a payment gateway via secure servers which provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity and client authentication for TCP/IP connections by the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. SSL is the industry standard protocol developed by Netscape® to provide secure transmissions of private information that is sent over the Internet. We suggest it is a good practice to check the SSL security certificate before entering personal information into any webpage.
We do not collect, or store credit card information on our computer systems. In fact, when purchases are made on-line, we don't even receive the credit card number. Our computer systems contain only basic data such as customer contact information, and sales records. Nonetheless, we protect and maintain our systems using third-party, enterprise based, anti-virus and firewall subscriptions that are updated several times per day.
Our security measures exceed that required by all credit card companies, and all US Federal, and State regulations. We do our part in protecting the integrity of credit card information to honor the trust that is placed in us. We also do our part because if someone makes a fraudulent credit card purchase from a merchant (seller), the bank that issued the credit card simply takes that money back from the merchant's account. The credit card companies don't absorb the cost of fraud, merchants like us do.
External Hyperlinks: The website contains a number of links to other websites that we believe to be of interest to our visitors. We do not allow "third party cookies", "banner ads", or paid advertisements to be placed on our website, and receive no compensation for the placement of website links on this site. USC has no control over the privacy practices of other website owners, and we encourage everyone to review privacy policies, and security certificates, before submitting personal information into any website they may visit.
This privacy policy was developed as an extension of our commitment to provide the highest quality of products, and services, while maintaining the highest level of integrity with our clients. The policy will be continually accessed to insure we maintain this commitment, and to respond to our clients needs. Should we find the need to change the policy in the future, we will post those changes on this page. We will also post a notice of privacy policy changes on the home page for thirty days, and include a direct link to the amended privacy policy.
If you have any concerns regarding this privacy policy, please don't hesitate to contact us. As always, we welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
